About Valtencir

Valtencir Zucolotto is a Full Professor at the São Carlos Institute of Physics (IFSC) of the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), where he coordinates the Nanomedicine and Nanotoxicology Group (GNano). He holds a degree in Materials Engineering from the Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1997), a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the same institution (1999), and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Universidade de São Paulo (2003). He completed a research internship at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in the United States (2000–2001) and served as a Visiting Professor at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France (2010).

Zucolotto has expertise in nanotechnology and the development and application of nanomaterials in medicine. He has published more than 220 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, 20 book chapters, and holds more than 30 patent applications, with nine patents granted. His work has accumulated over 10,500 citations, with an h-index of 48 (Web of Science), 51 (Scopus), and 60 (Google Scholar). He has supervised dozens of graduate students and 65 postdoctoral researchers. Zucolotto developed and teaches a graduate-level course on Scientific Writing Techniques in English and has delivered over 550 invited lectures. He serves as president of the Scientific Writing Portal Committee at USP São Carlos and is a former coordinator of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA) at USP São Carlos. He is a former Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and a Full Member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC). He is editor of the Nanomedicine and Nanotoxicology book series published by Springer Nature and Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Sensors/Biosensors.
