About Venkatesh

Dr. Venkatesh Pandiri serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Kancheepuram, Chennai, India, since January 2021. Previously, he was a Faculty Member at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh from October 2020 to January 2021, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at IFSTTAR, Lille, France from July to December 2019. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Hyderabad in 2019, with a thesis entitled "Heuristics for Variants of Traveling Salesman Problem" supervised by Prof. Alok Singh. Earlier, he completed his M.Tech. in Computer Science from the same university in 2013, focusing his thesis on "Swarm Intelligence Approaches for Multiple Traveling Salesman Problem," and a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada in 2011.

Dr. Pandiri's research interests encompass combinatorial optimization using heuristics and metaheuristics, reinforcement learning for optimization, swarm intelligence, network design optimization, and multi-objective optimization problems, particularly variants of the Traveling Salesman Problem. His academic output includes 12 journal articles and 5 conference proceedings, garnering 419 citations with an h-index of 11. A representative publication is "A swarm intelligence approach for the colored traveling salesman problem" co-authored with Alok Singh in Applied Intelligence in 2018. He has earned distinctions such as the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship during his Ph.D., MHRD Scholarship for M.Tech., scholarship from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for B.Tech., qualification in GATE 2011 with over 97 percentile, UGC National Eligibility Test for Assistant Professorship in December 2012, and a National Travel Grant from the Soft Computing Research Society for ICHSA 2018. Dr. Pandiri contributes to the field as a reviewer for journals including European Journal of Operational Research, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, Applied Soft Computing, and Applied Intelligence, and as a Technical Program Committee member for international conferences. He holds lifetime membership in the Computer Society of India.
