Vish Krishnan

Professor Vish Krishnan holds the Jacobs Family Chair in Management and Engineering Leadership and is Professor of Innovation, Technology and Operations at the University of California, San Diego's Rady School of Management, maintaining a joint appointment with the Jacobs School of Engineering. He received his Doctor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993, Master of Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Krishnan has served as Professor at UC San Diego since July 2005, preceded by roles as Associate Professor from December 1998 to June 2005 and Assistant Professor from August 1993 to 1998 at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, he is Faculty Director of the California Institute for Innovation & Development since Fall 2012, Associate Director of the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur since Summer 2016, and Co-Principal Investigator for the California Center for Service Science since September 2012.

His research interests encompass innovation and entrepreneurship, science, technology, and operations management. He has authored numerous publications in premier journals, including “Dynamic Development Contests” with S. Khorasani and E. Körpeoglu (Operations Research, 2023), “Screening in Multistage Contests” with S. Khorasani and L. Nittala (Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, 2023), “Business Models for Technology Supply Chains” with J. Lee and H. Shin (Management Science, 2020), and “Inclusive Innovation: Broader Market Coverage for Innovative New Products” with J. Lee, O. Mnyshenko, and H. Shin (Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, 2019). Krishnan has been honored as Most Valuable Professor in UC San Diego's Full-time MBA Program (2022) and Working Flex MBA Program (2009, 2012, 2016), Distinguished Fellow by the Production and Operations Management College of Product Innovation & Technology Management (2012), and Best Paper Award winner at the 10th China Summer Workshop on Information Management (2016). He holds editorial positions as Associate Editor for Management Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (since 2001) and Operations Management (since 2014). Krishnan has consulted for firms such as 3M, Dell, HP, Qualcomm, Sony, Ford, and Nissan, co-founded Acceva, Inc., and presented invited seminars at MIT, Harvard, Stanford, INSEAD, and others.
