Associate Professor Wayne Jocic is an academic at Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne. He holds the position of Co-Director of Studies, Construction Law, and serves as Associate Director of the Melbourne Centre for Construction Law. His teaching and research interests encompass construction law, contract law, remedies, and private law in general. Wayne Jocic joined Melbourne Law School as a full-time academic in 2014, following part-time teaching there since 2005. Prior to his full-time academic appointment, he worked for a decade at Clayton Utz, where he advised on major construction projects in every Australian state. For ten years, including during his academic tenure, he has been a part-time consultant in the major projects group at Corrs Chambers Westgarth. Jocic graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. Additionally, he is a member of the Society of Construction Law Australia.
Wayne Jocic's contributions to the field include co-authorship of key research outputs such as the report 'The Health of the Australian Construction Industry' alongside John Sharkey, Phillip Greenham, Matthew Bell, Julia Korolkova, and Didi Hu. He has also contributed to 'Security of Payment Legislation' and the 'SCL Academic Forum on Construction Law' with Matthew Bell. Notable publications feature the article 'Negligence Claims by Subsequent Building Owners: Did the Life of Bryan End Too Soon?' co-authored with Matthew Bell in 2014, published through Melbourne Law School resources.
