Will Doss serves as Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education in the Department of Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science from Texas A&M University in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications from the same institution in 2014. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Communications and Education from Texas Tech University in 2021. Doss's research specializations center on advancing agricultural education, particularly in school-based agricultural education (SBAE), FFA programs, professional development needs of teachers, instructional methodologies across career stages, student sense of belonging and retention in agriculture colleges, integration of generative artificial intelligence for microcontroller programming in agricultural contexts, and methodological approaches in survey research.
Doss has authored or co-authored over 30 publications, contributing to journals such as the Journal of Agricultural Education. Notable publications include "Does Sense of Belonging Predict Student Retention in a College of Agriculture?" (2025), "Agriculture students’ use of generative artificial intelligence for microcontroller programming" (2024), "Using ChatGPT with Novice Arduino Programmers: Effects on Performance, Interest, Self-Efficacy, and Programming Ability" (2024), which received the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2023 national American Association for Agricultural Education (AAAE) meeting, and "A discrepancy in discrepancy scores? Comparing the Borich and Ranked Discrepancy Models for determining professional development needs" (2024). His scholarship has garnered 130 citations, impacting teacher preparation, technological adoption in agriculture, and student success metrics. Additionally, collaborative efforts led to a NACTA award in 2025 for research on college students' sense of belonging and presentations at agricultural education conferences. As faculty advisor for the FFA Alumni and Supporters, Doss supports student organizations and programmatic assessment in agricultural education.
