Associate Professor Will Letts serves as Head of School for the School of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University. His academic qualifications include a PhD from the University of Delaware, a BA from Bates College, and a Graduate Certificate in University Leadership and Management (GCULM) from Charles Sturt University. Letts has built an extensive career at the university, progressing from Lecturer and Senior Lecturer to leadership positions such as Sub-Dean of Learning and Teaching, Head of Campus, Provost of Charles Sturt University Ontario, Associate Dean Courses, Associate Dean Academic, and Acting Executive Dean. He is recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively supervises higher degree by research students. Additionally, he chairs the Faculty Board and serves on key committees including the Academic Senate, Academic Portfolio Leadership Team, Equity and Diversity Committee, Faculty Courses Committee, and Faculty Assessment Committee.
Letts' research focuses on the intersections of queer theory and science education, employability in higher education, school-university partnerships, early childhood scientific literacy, and educational leadership amid casualisation and hierarchical structures. Notable publications include co-editing STEM of Desire: Queer Theories and Science Education (2019, Brill-Sense Publishers) with Steve Fifield; editing Education for Employability Volumes 1 and 2 (2019, Brill Sense) with Joy Higgs and Geoffrey Crisp, featuring chapters such as "University Employability Agendas, Targets and Strategies" and "Facing Global Challenges: One University Seizing Employability Opportunities"; "[Re]considering Queer Theories and Science Education" (2014, Cultural Studies of Science Education) with Steve Fifield; "Children’s Scientific Literacy Development in the Early Years" (2026, The Australian Educational Researcher); and "Cultivating Collaborative Practice to Sustain and Retain Early Childhood Educators" (2025, Education Sciences) with Belinda Downey, Leanne Gibbs, and Sharynne McLeod. As co-editor of the Journal of Curriculum and Pedagogy since 2013, he contributes to scholarly discourse. Letts is a member of professional organizations like AERA and HERDSA, and chairs the 2MCE Community Radio Board, embodying the university's values of insightfulness, impact, inspiration, and inclusivity through transformational leadership.
