Dr. Winston Delahaye serves as Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry and Postgraduate Psychiatry (DM) Programme Coordinator in the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry at The University of the West Indies, Mona, Faculty of Medical Sciences. He is also a Consultant Addiction and General Psychiatrist at the University Hospital of the West Indies and an Adjunct Lecturer in the Mona School of Business and Management within the Business & Economics area, where he lectures on Financial Accounting I and II, and Financial Management I. Delahaye obtained his MD from the University of Pecs, Hungary, a Postgraduate Degree in Psychiatry from UWI Mona, a Masters in Public Health, and a Fulbright Fellowship in Substance Abuse at Johns Hopkins University. He holds certifications as an Internationally Certified Addiction Professional and Global Master Trainer of Trainers in the treatment of substance use disorder, adolescent addiction, and alternatives to incarceration.
His distinguished career includes roles as former Acting Chief Medical Officer for Jamaica, former Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UWI Mona, past President of the Medical Association of Jamaica and the Jamaica Psychiatric Association, past Member of the Medical Council of Jamaica, Deputy Chairman of the National Council on Drug Abuse for three years, and Chairman of the Bellevue Hospital Board and Board of Supervision in the Ministry of Local Government. Delahaye established the Medicinal Cannabis Unit in the Ministry of Health, Jamaica, supervising the registration of 42 medicinal cannabis products. He is Founding Member and Chairman of the Caribbean Psychedelics Association, a member of the Psychedelic Medical Association, and Director of Neuro Psych Services in Kingston. As Principal Investigator, he leads a randomized controlled trial on adjunctive cannabinoid therapy for cancer pain symptoms at the Caribbean Institute for Health Research. He developed the De La Haye psilocybin Treatment Protocol for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, published in Frontiers in Psychiatry in 2023, and has treated over 40 patients with it. Additionally, he served as a Military Medical Officer and Captain in the Jamaica Defence Force.
