Rate My Professor Xingliang Zhang

Professor Xingliang Zhang is a full professor in the Department of Geology at Northwest University in Xi'an, China, where he also serves as director of the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Early Life and Environments and the Early Life Institute. His research focuses on palaeontology, with particular emphasis on the Cambrian explosion, phylogeny, Ediacaran biota, animal evolution, and arthropods. He has held the position of full professor at Northwest University and previously received a Humboldt Research Fellowship in 2002, hosted at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

Zhang has authored or co-authored key publications on Cambrian topics, including the 2012 book Lecture Notes of Geobiology published by Geological Publishing House, as well as 2014 papers such as Causes and consequences of the Cambrian explosion in Science China: Earth Sciences, Fossil treasure house for exploring the Cambrian explosion in National Science Review, and Triggers for the Cambrian explosion: Hypotheses and problems in Gondwana Research. Additional works from 2003 address Chengjiang Lagerstätte fossils and related microfossils. His contributions advance understanding of early animal evolution through studies of exceptional fossil preservation and evolutionary triggers.
