Dr Yang Xu is a Lecturer in Accounting in the School of Business, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at The University of Queensland. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Masters by Research, both from the University of New South Wales. In his role, Dr Xu coordinates and lectures courses such as ACCT7103 Auditing. He is a member of the Sustainable Business Research Hub Team at UQ Business School. Dr Xu is available for higher degree by research supervision.
Dr Xu's research specializations are Auditor Reporting Behaviour and Audit Quality. His key publications include 'The audit market for listed Australian companies from 2012 to 2018: a state of play', co-authored with Elizabeth Carson, Yi (Dale) Fu, and Ulrike Thürheimer, published in 2022 in the Australian Journal of Management (volume 48, issue 3, pages 524-549). Another significant paper is 'Responses by Australian auditors to the global financial crisis', with co-authors Elizabeth Carson, Neil Fargher, and Liwei Jiang, published in 2013 in Accounting and Finance (volume 53, issue 1, pages 301-338). He also co-authored 'Audit reports in Australia during the global financial crisis' with Elizabeth Carson and Neil Fargher, published in 2011 in Australian Accounting Review (volume 21, issue 1, pages 22-31). Additionally, Dr Xu received funding from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand for the project 'Mandatory Audit Partner Retirement Policies and Implications for Audit Quality' from 2020 to 2021.
