About Yanli

Yanli Lin is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from The Ohio State University in May 2024, commencing her doctoral studies in August 2018. Prior to joining UWA, she served as Graduate Teaching Associate from August 2019 to May 2024 and Graduate Research Associate for Professor Bruce A. Weinberg from Fall 2020 to Spring 2023 at The Ohio State University. During her graduate studies, she earned the University Graduate Associate Teaching Award in March 2023, the Tom Kniesner and Debbie Freund Award in April 2023, the G.S. Maddala Prize in Econometrics in May 2022, and the University Fellowship commencing August 2018.

Yanli Lin's research specializations are econometrics and applied econometrics, focusing on spatial dynamic panel data models with endogeneity issues, spatial autoregressive models for origin-destination flows, copula joint estimation, residual-adjusted estimators for SARAR models, network interactions with heteroskedasticity, and disease transmission linked to economic activity. Her key publications include "Copula joint estimation for spatial dynamic panel data models with endogeneity issues" with Yichun Song (Econometric Reviews, 2026); "Addressing endogeneity issues in a spatial autoregressive model using copulas" with Yichun Song (Journal of Econometrics, 2025); "An efficient residual-adjusted two-step estimator for a SARAR model" with Lung-Fei Lee and Yang Yang (Econometric Reviews, 2025); and "Estimation of spatial autoregressive models for origin–destination flows: A partial likelihood approach" with Hanbat Jeong and Lung-Fei Lee (Economics Letters, 2023). She has secured the UWA Business School Research Grant Awards (2024, co-investigator with Simon Chang, Rigissa Megalokonomou, and Tushar Bharati), UWA Business School Start-up Grant (2024), and Optimization-Conscious Econometrics Summer School Travel Grant from the University of Chicago (2024). Lin serves as Seminar Organizer for the UWA Department of Economics since January 2025 and is accepting PhD and Higher Degree by Research students.
