Yara Olmos is the Marketing Adviser for the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, with a focus on Genetics and Neuroscience, within the Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago. She serves as the primary marketing contact, partnering with academic departments to elevate programme visibility and increase student applications. Her work involves data-driven marketing strategies, content marketing, and targeted events designed to deliver measurable recruitment results. By combining analytics, digital best practices, and audience insights, Olmos supports the recruitment goals of the Health Sciences Division. She is based in the Health Sciences Divisional Office in Dunedin and currently handles interim responsibilities for Professional Programmes and Health Sciences First Year (HSFY).
Olmos holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Relations from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Management from Otago Polytechnic. Before joining the University of Otago, she worked with international brands at AB InBev, the world's largest brewing company, gaining experience in global marketing. Transitioning to New Zealand's education sector, she now contributes to external engagement efforts, including promotion of university events such as the University of Otago ScienceFest Expo and second-year pathways sessions in Health and Sciences. Her role aids the Division of Health Sciences, which delivers programmes across campuses in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Wellington, including Biomedical Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Radiation Therapy.
