About Yasuyuki

Yasuyuki Morita is Professor in the Division of Industrial Fundamentals, Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology at Kumamoto University, a position he has held since April 2018. He also holds a concurrent appointment at the Magnesium Research Center of the university. He earned his Ph.D. from Kyushu University in March 2003. His prior appointments include Visiting Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder (2017–2018), Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University (2009–2018), Assistant Professor at the Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University (2004–2009), and Unit Researcher at RIKEN (2003–2004). Morita serves as Technical Editor of Experimental Techniques and holds leadership roles in the Japan Society for Experimental Mechanics and the Japan Society for Non-Destructive Inspection, including committee chairs and directors. He is a Fellow of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers and has received multiple awards, such as the Paper Award from the Japan Society for Experimental Mechanics (2017), the Encouragement Award from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (2010), and earlier recognitions including the New Face Award from the Japan Society for Non-Destructive Inspection (2006). His laboratory focuses on micro- and nano-experimental mechanics, with research spanning nanotechnology and materials, nanobioscience, biomaterials, biomedical engineering, and machine materials and mechanics. Recent publications address topics including the effects of high-density pulsed electric current on microstructures in alloys, tendon-like tissue regeneration using electrospun scaffolds, extracellular matrix influences on cancer cell behavior, and related experimental techniques.
