Ms Yeok-Fun Mah serves as a Lecturer in the Accounting and Finance discipline at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. A graduate of Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, awarded Summa Cum Laude, Ms Mah possesses a robust background in financial services, particularly from her extensive tenure in Singapore's financial sector. This practical expertise enhances the educational value she provides to students through the finance units she coordinates, including Finance Essentials and Banking Theory and Practice.
Her professional journey began at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), where she initially worked in the Economics Department before advancing to Senior Assistant Director in the Securities Industry Department. In this role, she exercised regulatory oversight over securities firms, futures brokers, and fund management companies during her ten years of service at the central bank. Subsequently, Ms Mah joined INVESCO, an Anglo-American investment management company, as Country Head for Singapore. In 2004, she assumed a senior position at HSBC Global Asset Management, responsible for Singapore operations and regional sales for Southeast Asia. Over six years, she grew the Singapore operations to more than US$2 billion in assets under management and built strong relationships with sovereign wealth funds and central banks in the region.
At UWA, Ms Mah's industry experience brings practical insights to her teaching. She has been nominated for UWA Business School teaching awards and received an award from the University Student Guild.
