Professor Yin Xiao is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Medicine and Dentistry at Griffith University. A dental specialist, he holds a Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc) from 1986 and a Master of Dental Science (MDSc) from 1991. He began his research career in 2000 after completing his PhD at the University of Queensland. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Medical Engineering at Queensland University of Technology. Professor Xiao leads the Dentistry and Oral Health research team at Griffith University, focusing on multidisciplinary approaches integrating cell and tissue biology, biomaterials, and clinical applications in oral health.
His research specializations include regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, biomaterials, stem cells, bone and mineralized tissues, osteoimmunology, and implant and immune responses. Professor Xiao's teaching interests encompass regenerative medicine and dentistry, and he supervises postgraduate research students. He has an extensive publication record, with his work achieving an H-index of 96 and more than 40,000 citations. Recognized as one of Australia's top 250 researchers and a leader in his field, his contributions have significantly influenced advancements in tissue engineering, bone regeneration, and dental implantology. Professor Xiao has secured competitive research grants and holds editorial positions on international journals.
