About Yogesh

Dr. Yogesh Sharma serves as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Physics & Environmental Sciences, Sharda School of Engineering and Science, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics with a focus on Condensed Matter Physics – Photonics from the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, in 2019. Following his doctorate, he completed a Post Doctorate at the Institute for Plasma Research under the Department of Atomic Energy, Gujarat, India. Prior to his current role, which he assumed in August 2025, Dr. Sharma was an Assistant Professor at SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, from February 2020 to August 2025, accumulating over seven years of experience in teaching and research, exclusive of his Ph.D. period. He has mentored postgraduate students on dissertations and supervised doctoral candidates, while actively participating in international and national conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Dr. Sharma's research specializations include Photonic Crystals, Photonics, and Metamaterials; Electromagnetism; theoretical and simulation-based Photonics; wave propagation in structured media; and Computational Physics. In 2024, he was awarded the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) Core Research Grant as the sole Principal Investigator for the extramural project titled 'Bloch Surface Mode Excitation and Nonreciprocity in Infrared and Tera/Giga-hertz Frequency Range Using Magnetophotonic Crystals.' He has produced 40 SCI-indexed publications, one patent, four book chapters, and edited the book Photonic Materials: Emerging Research and Applications. Notable publications encompass 'Superluminal propagation of surface modes at 1d magnetized plasma ferrite crystals' (Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2025), 'Tunable 1D Ferrite Photonic Crystals: Magnetic Field Control of Band Gaps and Electromagnetic Dispersion Characteristics' (Physics Letters A, 2025), and 'Tunable defect mode properties in ternary photonic crystals: the role of nanocomposite defect layer position' (Journal of Modern Optics, 2025). His accolades include over 12 awards, such as the Research Excellence Award and Promising Academic Association Award from SGT University, Excellence Performer National Award-2021 by Koshambi Foundation, Postdoctoral Fellowship by Department of Atomic Energy, Junior Research Fellowship by ISRO's Space Application Centre, and qualification in JEST 2015. Dr. Sharma has contributed as a reviewer and committee member in numerous conferences, including international events organized by MIT World Peace University and SRMIST.
