About Yogesh

Dr. Yogesh Sharma is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Physics & Environmental Sciences at the Sharda School of Engineering and Science, Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics with a focus on Condensed Matter Physics – Photonics from the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, in 2019. Subsequently, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, under the Department of Atomic Energy, Gujarat, India. Prior to his current role, which he assumed in August 2025, Sharma served as an Assistant Professor at SGT University, Gurugram, Haryana, from February 2020 to August 2025. With over seven years of experience in teaching and research, he has guided postgraduate dissertations, supervised doctoral candidates, and organized academic and research events.

Sharma's research specializations include photonic crystals, photonics, metamaterials, electromagnetism, theoretical and simulation-based photonics, wave propagation in structured media, and computational physics. He has received the Department of Science and Technology – Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB) Core Research Grant Extramural Project in 2024 as the sole Principal Investigator for his project on Bloch Surface Mode Excitation and Nonreciprocity in Infrared and Tera/Giga-hertz Frequency Range Using Magnetophotonic Crystals. Other honors encompass JRF from the Space Application Centre of ISRO, Promising Academic Association Award, Research Excellence Award from SGT University, Excellence Performer National Award 2021 by Koshambi Foundation, Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Department of Atomic Energy, and JEST 2015 qualification. His scholarly output includes over 40 SCI-indexed publications, one patent, four book chapters, and two conference papers. Notable works are 'Superluminal propagation of surface modes at 1D magnetized plasma ferrite crystals' (Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2025), 'Tunable 1D Ferrite Photonic Crystals: Magnetic Field Control of Band Gaps and Electromagnetic Dispersion Characteristics' (Physics Letters A, 2025), and 'Tunable defect mode properties in ternary photonic crystals: the role of nanocomposite defect layer position' (Journal of Modern Optics, 2025). He edited the book 'Photonic Materials: Emerging Research and Applications' and serves as a reviewer for international conferences in photonics and electronics.
