About Yoshihito

Yoshihito Oshita is Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Okayama University, Faculty of Science. He obtained his Master’s degree and Doctor of Mathematical Science from the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Tokyo in 2002. His research specializes in the mathematical analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations, with interests in calculus of variations, pattern formation, reaction-diffusion equations, and interface dynamics.

Oshita has an extensive publication record in renowned journals, often in collaboration with international scholars. Select publications include: “Segregation Pattern in a Four-Component Reaction–Diffusion System with Mass Conservation” with Yoshihisa Morita (Journal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, 2024); “Linear stability of radially symmetric equilibrium solutions to the singular limit problem of three-component activator-inhibitor model” with Takuya Kojima (Mathematical Journal of Okayama University, 2021); “A rigorous derivation of mean-field models describing 2D micro phase separation” with Barbara Niethammer (Calculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations, 2020); “Blowup and global existence of a solution to a semilinear reaction-diffusion system with the fractional Laplacian” with Tomoyuki Kakehi (Mathematical Journal of Okayama University, 2017); “Standing wave concentrating on compact manifolds for nonlinear Schrödinger equations” with Jaeyoung Byeon and Ohsang Kwon (Communications on Pure and Applied Analysis, 2015); “Multi-bump standing waves with critical frequency for nonlinear Schrodinger equations” (Annales de l’Institut Henri Poincaré C, Analyse non linéaire, 2010); “Uniqueness of standing waves for nonlinear Schrodinger equations” (Proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Section A: Mathematics, 2008); and “An application of the modular function in nonlocal variational problems” with Xinfu Chen (Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 2007). He has also contributed to SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis on topics like singular limit problems and stable stationary patterns (2004–2007). Oshita is an editor for the Mathematical Journal of Okayama University and serves as a delegate for the Chugoku-Shikoku branch of the Mathematical Society of Japan (2024–2025), with memberships in SIAM and the Japan Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
