About Young Seob

Dr. Young Seob Son serves as Department Chair and Professor in the Department of Business Administration at Bemidji State University, with a field specialization in Finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Memphis, a Master of Science from Iowa State University, and completed a Postdoctoral Bridge Program at the University of Florida. Joining Bemidji State University in 2012 as new faculty in Business Administration, he advanced through the ranks from assistant professor to associate professor, was awarded tenure in 2016, and promoted to full professor by 2018. In addition to his teaching and research roles, he has held leadership positions including Director of the MBA program relaunched in 2016 and representative for the College of Business and Management Sciences on the Core Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Son's research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Environmental Economics and Management, Global Business and Finance Review, and Multinational Business Review. A key publication is his 2014 article, 'The Effect of the Proportions of Housing Wealth and Financial Wealth on Consumption: Theoretical Model,' published as the corresponding author in the Global Business and Finance Review. He teaches courses in Statistical and Quantitative Analysis, Managerial Finance, and Derivatives and Risk Management. Dr. Son is also an OER Advocate, having participated in the fall 2020 OER Learning Circle cohort. His contributions extend to university service, including involvement in faculty recognition events and academic program development.
