Dr. Yu Zhang is a Lecturer of Data Science at the School of Business, UNSW Canberra, University of New South Wales. His research specializations include text mining and analysis, knowledge and information management, social computing, and bibliometric analysis. Dr. Zhang applies these areas to interdisciplinary research, with publications in leading journals such as Information Processing & Management, Journal of Informetrics, China Economic Review, and Studies in Higher Education. He has also contributed to prestigious conferences including AAAI, CIKM, and PAKDD. As a member of the Decision Support and Analytics Research Group and the Supply Chain Sustainment Research Group, his work supports advancements in business analytics and decision-making processes.
Dr. Zhang has received major awards, including the 2024 Best Paper Award (Runner-up) at the 20th International Conference on Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA 2024), the 2024 Excellent Paper Award at the 20th IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE 2024), and the 2020 Best Paper Award at the Virtual International Conference on Futuristic Communication and Network Technologies (VICFCNT 2020). Key publications feature 'BPGV: Behavioral Pattern Graph for Vulnerability Detection' (2026), 'Beyond Matching: An Interpretable Hybrid Graph Matching Network for Recommender Systems' (2025), 'Analysing academic paper ranking algorithms using test collections' (Scientometrics, 2022), and 'Knowledge fusion through academic articles: a survey of key concepts, theories, and models' (Scientometrics, 2020). These contributions highlight his influence in data science and informetrics. In his teaching role, Dr. Zhang delivers courses such as ZBUS8322 Business Analytics and Storytelling, ZBUS2333 Data Analytics and Visualisation, ZBUS8503 Workforce Planning Research, ZBUS3104 Business Capstone, and ZBUS8312 Logistics Intelligence and Big Data Analysis.
