Rate My Professor Yu Zhang

Professor Yu Zhang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, where he serves as Dean of the School of Pharmacy. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the same institution in 2010. He began his academic career at the university in 2011, was directly appointed associate professor of pharmaceutics in 2015, and was appointed full professor of pharmaceutics in 2019. In 2016, he conducted research as a visiting scholar at the University of Nottingham School of Pharmacy under Professor Cameron Alexander.

His research focuses on novel ocular drug delivery systems and technologies as well as tumor- and inflammation-targeted formulations. As principal investigator, he has led 22 projects funded by major national programs including the 13th Five-Year Plan for Major New Drug Creation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, the Liaoning Province “Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project,” and the “Xingliao Talents Program” for young top talents. He has also contributed to eight additional provincial and ministerial projects and eight enterprise-sponsored initiatives. His work has resulted in 29 invention patent applications, 18 of which have been granted (including one PCT patent), and more than 70 SCI-indexed publications, with 32 as first or corresponding author. He has received the Fourth China Pharmaceutical Association–Yiling Biomedical Youth Award in 2019, multiple Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, Shenyang Science and Technology Progress Awards, and other honors. He holds positions including member of the Shenyang Municipal Political Consultative Conference and expert reviewer for various municipal science and technology bodies.
