Zaid Osama Saeed is a Lecturer in Architecture and Construction at Curtin University in the School of Design and the Built Environment, Faculty of Humanities. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Built Environment at Curtin University in 2022, supported by PhD scholarships from both Curtin University and Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Science in Construction Management (Distinction-Thesis) from Oxford Brookes University. As a registered architect, Saeed has professional experience as Director of AFB Architects and academic roles including Associate Lecturer and Tutor since July 2022 and Casual Academic from June 2022 to March 2024.
Saeed's research interests encompass digital twins, user-centred architecture, data-driven built environments, architectural design and technology, construction systems and materials, and smart sustainable infrastructure. His PhD developed a user-centred digital twin framework applied to Curtin University's Perth campus, integrating sensors and qualitative user data for adaptive, resilient design responsive to functional, climatic, and sociocultural factors. Key publications include 'The Digital Twin Framework: A Roadmap to the Development of User-Centred Digital Twin in the Built Environment' (2024), 'Digital Twin Applications: A Framework for Responsive, Resilient and Interconnected Architecture and Urbanism' (2024), 'Future City, Digital Twinning and the Urban Realm: A Systematic Literature Review' (2022), 'Artificial Intelligence and Optimization Methods in Construction Industry' co-authored with Francesco Mancini, Tanja Glusac, and Parisa Izadpanahi (2022), 'Lessons from New York High Line Green Roof: Conserving Biodiversity and Reconnecting with Nature' (2021), and 'Mosul City: Housing Reconstruction after the ISIS War' (2021). His scholarship has accumulated 194 citations and over 8,900 reads. Saeed contributes to public engagement through Curtin University's 'The Future Of' podcast on sustainable architecture and articles on adaptive design, digital twins, and tall timber. He is an Associate Fellow of Higher Education, accredited in Australia and the UK.
