Dr. Zara Taba serves as a Lecturer in Business Analytics within the School of Business at the University of Queensland Business School, part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the UQ Business School, awarded in 2020 for her thesis titled "Understanding healthcare customers’ goals and behaviours."
In her academic role, Dr. Taba coordinates and delivers key courses in business analytics, including Data Visualisation for Business (BSAN3204), which introduces students to data visualization methods in R; Machine Learning for Business (BSAN2205); BSAN3210 on prescriptive analytics; and BSAN3209. These courses emphasize practical applications of analytics in business decision-making. She has been recognized with an appointment as Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, reflecting her commitment to teaching excellence.
Dr. Taba's research interests center on marketing, customer goals, and behaviors in healthcare. Her publications include "Hierarchy of customer goals: conceptual framework and new insights," published in Journal of Service Management (2021, 32(5), 673-701), co-authored with Janet R. McColl-Kennedy and Leonard V. Coote. She also co-authored "Goal setting and health-related outcomes in chronic diseases: a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature from 2000 to 2020" in Medical Care Research and Review (2022, 80(2), 1-20) with the same collaborators. An earlier contribution is the 2015 conference paper "Intelligence & Knowledge in Business Information Systems Domain Model: Representing the Extended Organizational Informatics Domain Model (EOIDM)." She is listed in the UQ Business School's Future of Health Experts and is available for higher degree research supervision.
