Zhenyu Zhang earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Murdoch University in 2010. His doctoral research focused on the impact of globalisation on the cultural adaptation of management practices in China. The thesis examines how Chinese management practices are adapting to Western influences introduced through globalisation, offering insights relevant to both Western and Chinese business organisations operating in international contexts.
Zhang has extensive professional experience in knowledge management consulting, spanning 20 years. In 2020, he co-authored a paper titled 'An extended SECI model to incorporate inter-organisational knowledge flows' published in the International Journal of Knowledge Management Studies, alongside Anona Armstrong and Alan Huang from Murdoch Business School. The work extends the established SECI model of knowledge creation to account for knowledge exchanges between different organisations. During this period, he was a PhD candidate in the School of Business and Law at Murdoch University. His academic interests lie in knowledge management and international business.
