About Zhong,

Dr. Yifan Zhong, SFHEA, serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management and Organisations within the UWA Business School at the University of Western Australia. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Management and Master of International Business from Monash University, Australia, complemented by a Bachelor of Finance from the Australian National University. Zhong's research focuses on how firms leverage institutional and policy environments to advance global strategy and innovation. He investigates policy, market, and technology signals that reallocate corporate investments across borders and their impact on firm performance. Current projects examine the transformative effects of innovation policy and emerging technologies on organisations. He is a Fellow of the Centre for Business Data Analytics at UWA Business School, a Non-Resident Fellow at Monash Business School's Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability, and an external affiliate of the University of Sydney Business School's Emerging Markets Research group. Before joining UWA, he was a Lecturer in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and International Business at Curtin University after completing his PhD.

Zhong has garnered notable recognition, including the Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) awarded on 7 January 2025, UWA Business School Responsible Business Fellow on 1 October 2024, 3rd IETI Young Researcher Award on 21 January 2025, Milne Visiting Professor Program Grant Award on 30 April 2024, and 2023 UWA Business School Research Grant Awards on 19 February 2024. His scholarship features three Clarivate Web of Science highly cited papers published in journals such as Energy Economics, Journal of Environmental Management, and Journal of International Business Policy. Select recent publications include "Women on Boards in MENA (the middle east and north africa): A Systematic Review" (2026, with Alghamdi et al.), "Barking the Praises of its Canine Culture: Symbolism Management Through Storytelling" (2025, with Bian), commentaries "Empower communities to fight climate change at grassroots level" in Nature (13 May 2025) and "Inclusive trading policies are critical for an equitable energy transition" in Science (22 April 2025), and "The Double-Edged Sword of Institutional Support: Balancing International Intensity and Sustainability in Emerging Economy Firms" (2025, with Luo et al.). He holds positions as Associate Editor of Chinese Management Studies and editorial board member for Asia Pacific Journal of Management (since 2025) and Humanities & Social Science Communication (Nature Portfolio). Furthermore, he contributes to the UWA Business School Research Committee since 2024.
