Dr. Md Zobaer Hasan is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Science at Monash University Malaysia. He holds a BSc (Honours) in Statistics and an MSc in Statistics from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. He earned his PhD in Financial Statistics from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia, in 2014. His doctoral research examined the Dhaka Stock Exchange market using higher moment capital asset pricing models and stochastic frontier approaches to assess technical efficiency, leading to publications in high-impact journals and presentations at international conferences. Following his PhD, Hasan served as Senior Lecturer at Daffodil International University from May 2014 to January 2015 and as Assistant Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman from January 2015 to June 2018. During this period, his research extended to Malaysian stock markets and those in other developing countries.
Since joining Monash University Malaysia, he has shifted focus to public health and biostatistics research, applying statistical tools to areas such as COVID-19 transmission, child malnutrition, and autism spectrum disorders. He is the Program Director for Applied Data Science and teaches units including SCI1020 (Introduction to Statistical Reasoning), STA2216 (Data Analysis for Science), and honours-level statistics coursework (FST4280/MBS4280/BIO4280/BTH4280/CHM4280). Hasan has been recognized for his innovations in teaching and learning, with awards including two Gold Medals and a Bronze Medal in the Education Category at the Virtual HITeL Teaching and Learning Innovation Competition (INNOVATORS2022) in 2022, a Gold Medal at the 31st International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX’20) in 2020, the Monash Outside Study Program (OSP) in 2022, and the PVC’s Commendation for Excellence in Education (Innovation in Learning and Teaching) in 2023. He supervises student projects on public health and biostatistics and contributes to conferences such as the International Conference on Mathematical Sciences and Technology 2024. His recent publications include "Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) – An analysis of the ASD interventions utilized in Bangladesh" (Research in Developmental Disabilities, 2025), "Comparison of the virulence of community- and hospital-isolated Acinetobacter baumannii in HeLa cell line and insect model, Galleria mellonella" (Access Microbiology, 2025), "Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on child malnutrition in Selangor, Malaysia: A pilot study" (Journal of Infection and Public Health, 2024), and "Examining the roles of meteorological variables in COVID-19 spread in Malaysia" (Aerobiologia, 2024).
