Department
The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Patrols The Ringling's 66 acres of buildings, galleries, and grounds as assigned.
- Monitor visitor activity to ensure:
- Safety of staff and visitors
- Adherence to all policies/procedures
- Protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds while guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage
- Briefly answers guest questions with a focus on customer service and creating a welcoming environment for our visitor population.
- Conducts daily inspections of assigned areas and reports:
- Safety issues
- Damages or necessary repairs
- Water intrusion or leaks
As needed:
- Assists with emergency situations by communicating with the appropriate point of contact.
- Escorting staff and guests as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with:
- Customer service and creating a welcoming environment
- Museums or similar non-profit organizations
Ability to:
- Respond calmly to urgent/emergency situations
- Effectively communicate with the public
- Pay attention to surroundings and report issues

Anticipated Salary Range
$15.45 (28 hours a week)
- This role is eligible for a $5 per hour pay additive for working eligible assigned special events.

Working Hours
- This role has a set bi-weekly schedule. Applicants must be available for the schedule as listed below.
- Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Week 2: Friday and Monday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Thursday from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM.
Weekends, evenings, and holidays may be required per the needs of the Ringling.
