The University of Missouri-Kansas City is designated as an R1 top tier research university. The Department of Biomedical Sciences enhances biomedical and translational science education for medical students and works to develop research programs in key biomedical disciplines.

Job Description: The Department of Biomedical Sciences has open positions for 2 faculty members at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenure-eligible Associate Professor. The successful candidates will expand our translational science or clinical research program by adding research strengths in problems relevant to rural and medically underserved health conditions. Candidates must have expertise in research areas such as addiction, mental health, neurodegeneration, maternal fetal health, neonatal health, and diabetes. Primary responsibilities include maintaining an active extramurally funded research program, mentoring students, and teaching in a collaborative environment. Workload: 70% Research, 20% Teaching, 10% Service initially.

Teaching duties may include research methodology, statistics, bioinformatics, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, neuroscience, and immunology. Service includes committee participation.

Qualifications: M.D., Ph.D., or MD/PhD in relevant disciplines. For Associate Professor, demonstrated accomplishment in externally funded research, peer-reviewed publications, and teaching record.

Anticipated Hiring Range: Salary commensurate with rank, credentials, experience, and funding success. 12-month, full-time benefit-eligible appointment.
