2-year Limited Term Appointment as Assistant Professor in Canadian History
The Department of History and Ancient Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a 2-year Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Canadian history beginning July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval.
Anticipated Salary Range: $90K to $110K. Actual salary to be commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar with an active and promising research program in the social and cultural history of post-Confederation Canada and a specialization in the history of medicine or the history of science. Preference will be given to scholars who publish in the following areas: the history of disability, the history of health disparities, the history of emotions, or digital humanities. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the History, Philosophy and Ethics of Science Minor through teaching, student mentorship and supervision, as well as research output.
This position may include the possibility to take on a leadership role at the Laurier Centre for the Study of Canada (LCSC), helping to broaden its mandate by developing new areas of research focused on the history of medicine, the history of science, and/or digital humanities. Such a role would come with an adjusted course load (the standard course load for this LTA position is 5).
Applicants must have a PhD in History conferred at the time of application.
