2-year term, full time Lecturer position in Anesthesia
Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a 2-year term, full time Lecturer position in Anesthesia in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), University of Saskatchewan.
This position involves a 75% commitment to providing high-quality clinical anesthesia services within both the small and large animal clinics of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC). The anesthesia service is also responsible for the training of undergraduate veterinary students, graduate veterinarians, registered veterinary technologists, and veterinary technology students.
The successful applicant must be passionate about veterinary medicine, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA), and committed to coaching students for success in clinical practice. They will integrate current evidence-based advancements in veterinary anesthesia and help enhance the skills of undergraduate learners and technical staff. The position also involves clinical training and mentorship for graduate veterinarians specializing in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia. Participation in after-hours emergency duties is required, including the supervision of graduate students during this component of their training.
The remaining 25% of the appointment will be devoted to developing and delivering a limited number of lectures and laboratories within both the undergraduate and graduate veterinary programs, as well as the delivery and assessment of Clinical Skills anesthesia content in the undergraduate curriculum. The successful candidate will also contribute lectures within the graduate training program and provide continuing education to graduate veterinarians within the discipline.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent), have completed an advanced degree in a related field, be Diplomates of the ACVAA, and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan (see SVMA).
Salary: $95,187 to $139,203 for the 2026-2027 academic year, negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Attractive benefits package including 6 weeks vacation, dental, health, pension, etc.
