Job Description & Qualification

Junior candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree by August 2026 and show evidence of promising research ability. Senior candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a demonstrably strong research record. Competitive salary, research grant and housing subsidy are provided, with a regular teaching load of 2 courses per year. All faculty members, regardless of their citizenship, enjoy a housing subsidy for the first six years. Detailed information on WISE is available at the website http://www.wise.xmu.edu.cn/english.

About the Organization

Xiamen University, founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah-Kee, a well-known Chinese expatriate, is located in the resort-like island of Xiamen in Southeast China. The economics and finance disciplines in Xiamen University were first established in 1921 and have a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Department of Finance at School of Economics, Xiamen University, has experienced a glorious history and become one of top finance programs in Mainland China. In 2005, the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) was founded, as a recent effort by Xiamen University to build a first-class modern economics and finance research institute and to facilitate international research and academic exchanges. The mission of WISE and the SOE is to nurture economic talents that improve both Chinese and global society, and our vision is to become a world-renowned Chinese institution in economics.

The finance faculty members in WISE and Department of Finance at the School of Economics have published articles in top journals, such as Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies. Journal of Financial and Quantitative analysis, and Management Science, We have successfully hosted high quality conferences, such as the 2016 China International Conference in Finance (CICF), European Financial Management 2017 Symposium, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024 Greater China Area Finance Conferences, 2018 International Symposium on Financial Engineering and Risk Management, 2019 Asian Meeting of Econometric Society (AMES), International Association for Applied Econometrics (IAAE) 2024 Annual Conference and will organize more international conferences. Having successfully recruited more than 100 faculty members from abroad in the past years, WISE and Department of Finance at the School of Economics still have several faculty positions available in all areas of finance at all ranks.
