About the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) engages with academics and industry to develop commercial opportunities. They establish relationships, identify and evaluate opportunities, and manage transactions. The BDM works across various schools and departments, supported by RIC service specialists and other professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding the Faculty’s capabilities, with an emphasis on the Melbourne Medical School, and collaborate to support the business development plan.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, manage relationships, and generate new industry leads.
  • Supporting customer management and contribute to commercial project development.
  • Improving systems and processes, utilise CRM, and assist with reporting and culture change in commercial engagement.


Who we are looking for

We're looking for a skilled communicator with strong relationship building, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities, and experience in business development or stakeholder management, who excels in managing complex relationships and commercial projects, and thrives in dynamic environments.

You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and experience in life and/or health sciences and business development, preferably in a university or similar setting, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Extensive knowledgein the application of digital health technologies, including telemedicine, health informatics, and digital therapeutics.
  • In-depth understanding of drug development processes, from discovery and preclinical research to clinical trials and regulatory approval.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This role requires current valid work rights for Australia.
