8-month term position in Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor

The Department of History and Politics at the University of New Brunswick Saint John invites applications for an 8-month term position in Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence on August 25, 2026 and is subject to budgetary approval.

Qualifications for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor include a Ph.D. in Politics. Candidates who are nearing completion of their doctorate in Politics may be considered for appointment at the rank of Lecturer. The successful candidate should have experience teaching in such areas such areas as the Canadian Politics and Comparative Politics or International Relations. The successful candidate will contribute to the Politics discipline as part of a small team of faculty members teaching undergraduate courses in Politics, with a teaching load of 3 courses in the fall term and 3 courses in the winter term.

Review of applications will commence on March 9th, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled. Letters of application must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, proof of highest degree, statement reviewing research interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e.. teaching dossier). Short-listed candidates will be required to provide satisfactory proof of credentials including appropriately certified translations of credentials into English, as applicable. The salary range and fringe benefits for this position are defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 - 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
