Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an entry level Academic Adviser to join the highly effective Quality and Policy team in Te Waikura - Academic Office on a 12-month, fixed-term contract.
This position is covering a staff member on maternity leave. It is possible this role may be re-advertised after 12 months if our current staff member does not return. This role also provides some options for flexible working including work from home and flexible hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Helping manage and operate the day-to-day requirements of the student feedback system.
- Provide support for Quality Assurance processes and outputs, including those connected to Academic Programme Reviews, including through the provision of quantitative data via University data systems.
- Help review and develop the University’s Academic policies and procedures.
- Provide support for a range of other functions managed by the team including: Student suspensions, Academic Grievances, Artificial Intelligence guidelines, student appeals.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be at the early stages of your career elsewhere and/or potentially a recent postgraduate student (or a current postgraduate student near completion) with an interest in developing a career in higher education policy and/or quality assurance. You should have a passion for improving higher education, especially for students who have been traditionally under-represented in higher education.
Key requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to education change and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and work with others to develop solutions over a range of contexts, including those which can arise in technological systems as well as the challenges that are identified in policy development and quality assurance processes.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including to communicate with a range of different audiences.
