Position Summary

This position serves as the primary academic advisor for Master of Public Health Students. Responsibilities include updating advising guidelines and policies in-line with curriculum changes in order to support overall advising support. This position will lead the team of academic advisors and also serve as part of the Student Support Team to provide crisis intervention, case management, and assist the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Assistant Director for Student Engagement with emergent student issues and concerns.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as an academic advisor for a designated number (approximately 100) of Master’s students in Public Health, helping students persist to graduation, including helping students navigate the school and university systems. Refers students to appropriate school and university resources. Serves as administrative resource to current students and supports Admissions and Recruitment with prospective student questions and attending recruitment events. Communicates with Registrar’s Office as the functional area liaison, including gaining expertise in course sequencing and curriculum changes.
  • Supports students and student groups by helping them to navigate school and university systems, and abiding by university guidelines. Assists in the delivery of student group trainings and activities.
  • Updates and maintains advising materials, assist with online communication of advising processes and policies, and ensuring advising support is in compliance with curricular requirements. Creates and maintains curriculum chart associated with programs various concentration and specialization needs.
  • Effectively communicate expectations and process includes but not limited to registration, pre-requisite compliance, and incomplete compliance. 
  • While leading academic advising team, assess and improve current advising offerings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Will require some evening and weekend availability.

  • Ability to lift and carry items over 25 lbs.

Salary Range

$49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
