Description:
The C. T. Bauer College of Business is looking for either an Academic Advisor 1 or Academic Advisor 2 for their Accounting Certificate Program
AA1: Provides information and advice to enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation.
- Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculum.
- Analyzes and processes degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions.
- Maintains students' files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
- Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.
- May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming freshmen and transfer students.
- Processes Veteran's Administration paperwork, writes graduation verification letters, and provides financial aid appeals.
- May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

- Maintains student files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
- Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, as well as financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.

Additional Position Information
Description:
This position works in the Department of Accountancy & Taxation at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. This position engages with students to advise them on academic requirements for degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Further, successful candidates will effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees and be able to manage multiple employer relationships.
Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:
- Advise current post-baccalaureate and graduate accounting students with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Process academic forms and letters related to academic advising.
- Assist with planning and executing events for current accounting students.
- Assist with Bauer Commencement each fall and spring.
- Be adaptable to change, as constant improvements are being made in advising.
The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with the potential for certain days to be adjusted (e.g., 9am-6pm or 7am-4pm). Occasional travel and special events may occur outside of the normal business working hours, including some Saturdays. As much advance notice as possible will be given.
