Primary Purpose of the Organization
The academic advisor would serve the Mathematics and Computer Science degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the Chemistry degree programs in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science. The primary purpose of these two departments is to provide education to majors within their academic degree programs.

The primary purpose of the position would be to provide academic advising to majors within the Mathematics and Computer Science degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as the Chemistry degree programs in the Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Materials Science.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
- An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in the degree program to which they are assigned.
- Experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising, counseling admissions, enrollment management or student affairs.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Requires the ability to use a personal computer to complete duties and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (WORD, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as other related student management software.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; be able to manage a wide variety of records, files, and reports.
- Must have personal and professional attributes to include punctuality, diligence, commitment, integrity, teamwork, and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics.
- Work experience in a higher education setting specifically in academic advising, teaching, counseling, admissions, enrollment management or student affairs are preferred.
