Essential Job Duties
The Academic Advisor in the Poole College of Management at NC State University is a full-time, 12-month administrative position (EHRA) that reports directly to the Senior Associate Director of Advising or the Associate Director of Advising Programs.
The primary role of the Academic Advisor is to advise undergraduate students in the Poole College of Management regarding academic requirements from matriculation through graduation, course selection and registration, and other issues related to academic progress and student success.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering support initiatives for a variety of student populations to increase student engagement and success.
- Managing and advising a student organization within the college.
- Working with new students to ensure a successful transition to NC State and Poole College.
- Collaborating effectively within the shared advising model to provide consistent support for undergraduate students.
Opportunities for hybrid work will be offered to this individual upon completion of the onboarding and training period.
Minimum Education and Experience
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Experience in academic advising at the college level.
- Excellent communication skills: oral, written, and presentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with successfully managing heavy student traffic while continuing to provide holistic support.
- Previous advising experience in a college of business.
