Job Description:
Job Summary:
An Academic Advisor works with continuing students in assigned programs and engages with these students to promote retention and student success. Responsible for building relationships, providing academic customer service, and enrolling students into future courses until graduation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pursue proactive student outreach to discover the concerns and educational goals of each student through the combination of telephone, text, email, and mail.
- Advise and counsel students towards the successful completion of their degree or other established academic objectives.
- Respond to student concerns. Act as liaison between the student and the proper university personnel and departments. Provide students with available options and assist in problem resolution.
- Regularly report student concerns to appropriate university departments or personnel.
- Maintain working knowledge of City University's programs to make tailored recommendations to each student.
- Understand City University's student financing sources, rules, and requirements so that basic eligibility requirements are conveyed to students.
- Outreach to students who have stopped attending to bring them back and/or learn why they stopped attending.

- Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must demonstrate a high level of customer service, attention to detail, and organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through ability.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize work, multitask, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively to small or large groups and respond to questions from diverse groups of students, staff, faculty, community organizations, and the public.
- Proficient with basic MS Office tools. Experience with PeopleSoft, Degreeworks, and Brightspace is preferred.
- Working knowledge of databases to enter, track and maintain student information.

This is a remote position based in the greater Pacific Northwest region. Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting. Some weekend and evening hours may be required. Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
Salary information: $29 - 31/hour DOE
