The Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications, from qualified individuals, for an Academic Associate position in the field of Nursing. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on January 1, 2026, or as soon as it is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level in the Nursing Program. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment.

Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in Nursing [BScN] and a Master’s degree in Nursing or in a related field. As well, applicants for this position must be Registered Nurses (in the Regular or Extended class) and hold and maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario entitling them to practice, with no restrictions. A PhD (or equivalent) in Nursing or a relevant health sciences field would be considered an asset.

The preferred candidate will be able to teach in one or more of the following domains: Acute and Chronic Care Nursing (medical-surgical nursing, clinical education, health assessment, medication administration), Mental Health Nursing, and Nursing Theory. In addition, experience with simulation-based learning and/or practicum/clinical oversight would be an asset.

Applicants should possess a strong academic background and demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions[1] . In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service and 10% Other workload each year.

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers a 4-year collaborative BScN program and a 3-year Advanced Entry RPN to BScN Program [with Durham College]. This is in addition to undergraduate honours degrees across a number of other health programs [BAHSc; BSc; BHA; medical laboratory sciences, kinesiology] as well as MSc and PhD programs and a MScN program]. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
