Essential functions (job duties):
The Academic Coordinator for the Jacob Scholars Program coordinates academic support, student success, and recruitment activities for undergraduate Jacob Scholars in the Wayne State University College of Nursing. The primary focus of the position is supporting the academic success, retention, and progression of Jacob Scholars through tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, group study, academic monitoring, and early intervention.
The Academic Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, academic advisors, the Academic Success Center, and Jacob Scholars Program leadership to coordinate student support services and monitor program outcomes. The position also supports recruitment and outreach efforts to build a pipeline of prospective students into the Jacob Scholars Program, with approximately 30% of the position dedicated to recruitment activities. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for student programming, tutoring, recruitment, and program events.
