Academic Engagement Manager

Job Summary

The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University is seeking an Academic Engagement Manager to advance teaching, learning, and research activities connecting the museum across campus. This role facilitates cross-disciplinary opportunities with faculty, students, and staff, including course engagements, student-centered programming, and collaborations with other institutions.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitates teaching, learning, and research activities related to the art collection and exhibitions for Auburn faculty, students, and staff, focusing on interdisciplinary collaborations. Develops opportunities for the museum Study Room and virtual/in-person engagements.
  • Conceptualizes, develops, and implements new teaching and learning opportunities for college and university partners, utilizing the museum’s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
  • Manages the museum Student Guide and Student Advisory Board programs, including supervision, training, and evaluation.
  • Serves as an active member of the Education, Engagement and Learning unit, collaborating on projects and professional development.
  • Works with colleagues in Communications and External Relations to create public-facing materials.
  • Contributes to development and fundraising initiatives, including grant opportunities and proposals.
  • Participates in museum planning and represents the museum regionally, statewide, and nationally.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree
Experience: 2 years in teaching or developing academic programs
Skills: Knowledge of interdisciplinary collaborations, communication skills, problem-solving, and more.

Desired Qualifications

Degree in Arts, Humanities, or related field; experience in designing teaching experiences for college-level courses.

Salary Range

$43,290 - $69,270
