Academic Gastroenterologist - Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Clinician Researcher)
Appointment Type and Rank: The successful candidate will hold a limited term academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, or a continuing academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Profile: The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University and London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre are seeking a physician for full-time clinical academic appointment to Western University. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) in the province of Ontario.
Academic and Clinical Expectations: The Division of Gastroenterology is seeking an academic Gastroenterologist whose clinical focus is Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The successful candidate must have completed fellowship training in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and be proficient in Intestinal Ultrasound. They must have a strong interest in fostering a more collaborative and programmatic approach to the care of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and working harmoniously with other division members, colleagues and allied health professionals.
Applicants for this Clinician Researcher academic position must have a very strong committed clinical research focus. They must have experience and a track record of leading and conducting clinical research and innovation. The applicant must have demonstrated research productivity with the following (1) formal training in research methodology; (2) a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in high quality publications, with a number of publications as the first or senior author; (3) demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers (as attested by references).
The successful candidate will provide care in specialized IBD clinics and general Gastroenterology clinics. They will provide inpatient care attending on our GI-CTU and inpatient consult services. They will also join our citywide GI on call schedule. They will be expected to teach in both the clinical and non-clinical settings to medical students, residents and clinical fellows.
Compensation details: Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of the following sources: Fee for service (OHIP billings), Alternative Funding Plan and academic salary.
