About the role:
At the University of Canberra, we are committed to supporting our international students to thrive academically and professionally. We are seeking a self-driven and highly motivated Academic Lead to lead strategic initiatives that strengthen English and academic skills development for international students in health-related courses.
In this leadership role, you will collaborate with staff and students across the Faculty to design and deliver impactful academic support programs. You will play a vital role in integrating targeted language and learning initiatives into the Faculty’s educational and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) strategies, bridging communication gaps and creating a more connected and supportive learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and deliver academic study modules for international Health students aligned with UC’s WIL and assessment frameworks.
- Collaborate with Faculty educators to enhance academic support across the international student journey.
- Develop and deliver a Faculty-focused evaluation strategy (including but not limited to SOTL/Research) to demonstrate impact of interventions on international students’ success in both course work and work-integrated learning.
About you:
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and passionate about enhancing international student success.
- Strong awareness of the academic and cultural challenges faced by international students in higher education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge gaps and engage effectively across diverse groups.
- Ability to collaborate with academic and professional staff to deliver impactful learning initiatives.
- A PhD in a related Health Science discipline is desirable; Candidates who have commenced a PhD are also encouraged to apply.
