Classification: Academic Supervisor 2 Unlimited, Full-time 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
Salary Range: Hourly from $33.61 to $48.66; Annually from $70,178 to $101,602. Salary placement is dependent on education and experience. The vacancy is posted on-line from Friday September 12 to Sunday September 21 at 11:59pm.
THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT: This position exists to provide management and supervision for College Lab Assistants (lab/studio/greenhouse) in the Academic Affairs Division. This position is also responsible for short- and long-term planning for lab staffing and contributes to planning for lab space and improvements thereof. This position addresses urgent problems in laboratory spaces, finds opportunities for improvement in delivery of lab services, and works to ensure safe and efficient operations and a collegial working and learning environment for staff, faculty, students, and other partners.
The Lab Supervisor will supervise, manage, and provide professional development and coaching to the College Lab Assistants (CLAs) and student workers. This position also is responsible for ensuring minimal impact to students in the case of staff absences. In addition, the Academic Operations Supervisor will provide oversight to ensure compliance of safety regulations and guidelines in all laboratory spaces in the division. This position is critical to the operation of all departments within the Lab areas. This position supports the importance of teaching labs for student learning and actively advances the college’s strategic goals: to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: Essential: Three (3) years of relevant lab and/or project management experience. Demonstrated experience with lab safety. Preferred: Master’s degree in one of the fields represented; (STEM, Art, Music, Library Sciences, Nursing). Experience with college teaching and instruction. Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
