Academic Position in Gastroenterology
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for the academic position in Gastroenterology to be based at the University of Alberta. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada's premier academic medical institutions and is recognized among the world's top 100 medical schools.
The Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine is one of the largest Gastroenterology and Hepatology centers in Canada with 27 academic physicians and 2 tenured non-clinical faculty members. Its leading-edge research program is supported by more than $3M annual research funding, its Centre of Excellence in Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Immunity Research, with 45 research trainees.
The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Gastroenterology, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The individual will have done extra training in hepatology, with specific expertise in transplant hepatology and Alcoholic liver disease.
Key accountabilities of the Academic position in Gastroenterology will include, but will not be limited to experience in educational administration, program development and curriculum development. The position will involve at least 30% of protected time for education with the remainder spent on clinical work, research and administration.
The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Associate Professor, in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
