About the Position

Yuelu Academy, a renowned millennium-old academic institution with a rich legacy in the humanities and officially designated as the School of History and Philosophy of Hunan University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track academic position in Philosophy. Research Focus

The position welcomes scholars specializing in the following sub-fields of Philosophy:

• Chinese Philosophy: Classical Confucianism, Daoism, Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism, Modern Chinese Philosophy, Comparative Chinese-Western Philosophy
• Western Philosophy: Ancient Greek and Roman Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Modern Western Philosophy (e.g., Descartes, Kant, Hegel), Contemporary Western Philosophy (e.g., Phenomenology, Existentialism, Analytic Philosophy)
• Religious Studies: Religious Theory and Philosophy of Religion, Buddhism Studies, Christianity Studies, Islamic Studies, Taoism and Chinese Folk Religion Studies, Comparative Religious Studies, Sociology of Religion
• Other Philosophy Sub-fields: Marxist Philosophy, Ethics, Aesthetics, Logic, Philosophy of Science and Technology

Core Qualifications

Hold a doctoral degree from a prestigious university or research institution in a relevant field.

Fluent in either Mandarin or English, with the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct academic exchanges in the proficient language. Proficiency in both languages is a plus.

Demonstrated academic excellence appropriate to career stage:

• Early-career candidates: Exceptional research potential, a strong academic foundation in the chosen field, and a clear vision for future research.
• Mid-career and senior candidates: A distinguished publication record in top-tier journals/monographs, proven teaching effectiveness, leadership in research projects, and contributions to the academic community.

Familiarity with digital humanities methodologies is a valuable asset.
