The National University of Singapore Faculty of Law (NUS Law) invites applications for full-time appointments at the level of full Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. We welcome applications from qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds. We value scholarship employing a wide range of methodologies and in any field of law.

Subject areas of particular interest for our faculty include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Indonesian Law
  • Laws of the People’s Republic of China
  • Law of Taxation
  • Family Law

We welcome applications for full-time appointments at any of the following levels:

Professor:This tenured position is for academics who have acquired an international reputation at a sustained level for their research or education.Associate Professor:This tenured position is for mid-level academics who have acquired an international reputation for their research or education.Assistant Professor:This is an entry-level, tenure track position. Candidates are expected to have a doctorate in law or have submitted a completed doctoral dissertation for examination by the application deadline. Candidates should have a record of significant and rigorous published research or have the demonstrated potential to achieve this record.

All applications will be treated with the strictest confidence. Applicants must complete the NUS Personal Data Consent for Job Applications, which is to be submitted together with the application. Candidates who are short-listed can be expected to attend a campus interview.

The applicant's dossier should include the following: 1. Curriculum Vitae a. Academic History: Degrees obtained; Scholarships and awards; Post-doctoral training; Other study and research opportunities b. Employment History: List all academic and non-academic positions held c. Public and professional service. d. Honours and awards, including major invited addresses, elected membership in professional and learned societies, etc. e. Other relevant information. 2. A statement (maximum of 3 pages) of education philosophy and methodology. Applicants should attach evaluations on education from faculty members or students of the applicant's current institution, where applicable. 3. A statement (maximum of 3 pages) of major accomplishments in research, citing up to five (5) significant publications and explaining their significance. Sample copies of the cited publications should be provided (in the case of books, reviews should be provided). 4. A complete list of publications, including page number ranges. 5. For applicants for appointment to Associate Professor or Professor with tenure, a list of four (4) external reviewers, their mailing and email addresses and one-page biography must be provided. Please do not nominate more than four external reviewers unless requested to do so. For applicants for appointment to Assistant Professor, a list of three (3) external reviewers, their mailing and email addresses and one-page biography must be provided. The applicant’s relationship to the reviewer (if any) must be indicated. The external reviewer should not be the applicant’s co-author or co-editor. 6. Applications are considered twice a year, in January and July. For those applying for January consideration, applications must be submitted by the deadline of December 31st; for those applying for July consideration, applications must be submitted by the deadline of June 30th. 7. Shortlisted applicants and those who are not shortlisted should receive an email from the Secretary of the Faculty Search Committee no later than three months following the deadline for that round’s applications.
