- Collaborate with Faculties, the Graduate School and other University units to align learning services and resources.
This is a full time, continuing position with salary in the range $102,565 - $111,686 (HEW 7), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Academic Skills Advisor to support students in optimising their academic learning, strengthening existing capabilities, and developing essential academic skills. Working as part of a collaborative and student-focused team, you will deliver high-quality academic skills support both online and across multiple UQ campuses.
In this role, you will partner closely with Faculties, the Graduate School, the Library, and the Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation to enhance the student learning experience through evidence-based and inclusive support services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high-impact academic skills support through individual consultations, group workshops, peer programs, and digital learning resources.
- Provide targeted, personalised support to at-risk students and those on academic progression plans.
- Design and deliver transition support for coursework and research students at key stages of their academic journey.
- Develop, maintain, and innovate inclusive, universally designed learning resources aligned with best practice.
- Contribute to multi-staff programs, student leadership initiatives, and academic skills projects.
- Develop learning objectives, maintain organised materials, and contribute to evaluation, reporting, and audit processes.
About You
- A degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. education, educational psychology) with at least four years’ relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Demonstrated experience delivering academic learning support or teaching in a higher education environment.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A sound understanding of factors influencing student learning outcomes across diverse cohorts.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Experience delivering innovative learning services, including online learning resources and workshop facilitation.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team across the University.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
