POSITION DETAILS

The Academic Student Support Program Director for the Undergraduate Clinical Affairs will report directly to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. The Director will have primary responsibility for overseeing clinical experiences for all undergraduate students.

The Director for Undergraduate Clinical Affairs will:

  • Engage in strategic advocacy, planning, coordination, and quality improvements to ensure that undergraduate students achieve their expected learning outcomes in their clinical experiences.
  • Oversee all aspects of the undergraduate program clinical placements and compliance to ensure a supportive, effective learning environment for students.
  • Lead the undergraduate program clinical placement team, providing guidance and professional development to enhance service delivery, while coordinating with clinical instructors and preceptors to ensure quality supervision and support for students.
  • Collaborate with the School Executive Leadership Team, program directors, faculty, clinical partners, and others to create a quality undergraduate student clinical placement experience.
  • Drive efforts to attract and retain undergraduate students, enhancing orientation processes, and fostering connections with alumni.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, collect and analyze data related to clinical placements, and recommend improvements based on findings.
  • Stay updated on CUNY, Hunter College, and School of Nursing policies and systems related to clinical placements and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop new initiatives that enhance undergraduate clinical education.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the university’s overall functions and operations.
  • Undertake additional related responsibilities as needed to support the mission and strategic goals of the School of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience with a preference for nursing, medicine, or a health-related field. Leadership, supervisory, and/or project management experience preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, team building, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency and competency in database management, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other relevant systems/software.

Previous work with a College/School program with an emphasis on clinical/practicum/field placement learning required.

Develops, recommends, and implements program goals and objectives to meet students' specialized needs and develops a range of responsive programs

Oversees the integration of diverse services with internal and external partners to meet a broad range of student needs

Collaborates with academic and student support departments to ensure students are utilizing available services and programming; collaborates with counselors, mentors, and others assisting students

Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes, recommending program improvements; writes proposals and reports to internal and external stakeholders

Directs all service operations, facilities, and staff

Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($109,898-$145,671). CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
