DESCRIPTION (subject area, requirements, comments): The competition is open to candidates holding a PhD in Sociology within the field of social sciences, who can demonstrate a track record of academic achievement and professional experience as a university lecturer, particularly in the field of Early Years Education.
I. Requirements:
To ensure high-quality delivery of theoretical and practical teaching in the discipline of Sociology within the Preschool and Early Years Education programme, as well as other degree programmes offered by the Academy of Applied Sciences in Piła (Nursing, Emergency Medical Services, Economics, Physiotherapy, Economics), as well as the development of academic and research activities in the field of the sociological determinants of education in Poland.

Skills/Qualifications
II. Requirements
- A PhD in the social sciences, specialising in sociology.
- Knowledge and expertise in the following areas:
- the sociological determinants of pre-school and early-school education;
- the conditions governing the process of education and upbringing at school and in the wider community.
- Experience in conducting social research, including:
- the design and implementation of academic and field research,
- the analysis of social issues related to education,
- the preparation of research reports and practical recommendations in the field of pedagogy,
- the preparation of academic publications in the field of pedagogy,
- active participation in national and international academic conferences.
- Teaching experience, including:
- delivering lectures to students,
- designing and implementing educational and training programmes,
- the ability to combine theoretical knowledge with professional practice,
- supporting students’ academic development and the activities of student research societies.
- The ability to initiate, plan and coordinate academic, social and educational projects, including:
- organising seminars, conferences and academic events,
- coordinating the work of project teams,
- Highly developed social skills, in particular:
- communication and interpersonal skills,
- the ability to work with children, young people and groups at risk of social exclusion,
- social and ethical responsibility,
- the ability to build partnerships
- A command of English sufficient to deliver lectures.
- Employment at the Stanisław Staszic National Astronomical Observatory in Piła as the primary place of work on a full-time basis.
- General availability and readiness to work.
- Documents must be submitted in Polish only.
The candidate is required to meet the requirements set out in Article 113 and Article 125(1) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended).

Specific Requirements
Documents required from the candidate:
- A covering letter or application for employment;
- A CV;
- A copy of the degree certificate and other documents confirming the candidate’s qualifications and compliance with the requirements set out in generally applicable regulations, as well as the additional requirements specified in the statutes of the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Applied Sciences in Piła;
- Photocopies of certificates and certificates of completed courses and professional development;
- Documents attesting to professional experience;
- A declaration of full legal capacity;
- A declaration of full enjoyment of public rights;
- A declaration that the candidate has not been subject to a disciplinary sanction depriving them of the right to practise as an academic teacher for an indefinite or fixed period;
- A declaration of readiness to take up employment at the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Sciences in Piła at the primary place of work and on a full-time basis;
- A statement by the candidate consenting to the processing of personal data in connection with the competition procedure.
In addition, the candidate may submit other documents or provide information which, in their opinion, may be useful in the outcome of the competition. 1. The selection process may be suspended or cancelled at any time by the Rector, without giving a reason, until a candidate has been appointed.
2. The results of the selection process shall not constitute grounds for candidates to make any claims against the Stanisław Staszic Academy of Applied Sciences in Piła, in particular claims for employment.
3. The decision to appoint a candidate is taken by the Rector. In cases justified on substantive grounds, the Rector has the right not to appoint a candidate selected in the competition. Documents must be submitted exclusively in Polish.
The University does not reimburse any costs incurred by competition participants in connection with the entire process of taking part in the competition.
